The City of Hermiston is among the largest cities in Eastern Oregon, with a population of about 20,000. Hermiston retained Merchant McIntyre to increase its federal grants capacity, build strong working relationships with federal agency program staff, and cultivate key Members of the Oregon Congressional delegation as champions for the City’s legislative interests.
Here are two of our most recent accomplishments:
- $1.46 million to support infrastructure improvements (water, sewer, roadways) to open new industrial parcels at the South Hermiston Industrial Park (SHIP). The industrial park will create 250 jobs and leverage $70 million in investment. (Source: Economic Development Administration)
- $1.5 million to develop a new local roadway connection between two major highways (US 395 and OR 207) and to upgrade an existing railway crossing, pending. (Source: Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Bill)
To build upon these funding awards, Merchant McIntyre is currently working with the City on significant grant applications to the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), among others.
