Limestone University is a private Christian university in Gaffney, South Carolina. Limestone’s residential campus is located in Gaffney, and its innovative Online Program reaches around the globe and includes Student Service Centers in Charleston, Columbia, Florence, and Greenville. Including its On-Campus, Online, and Graduate Program students, Limestone is among the largest private universities in South Carolina, and the third-largest college in the state.
Limestone retained MM to help build Limestone’s profile at the federal level, including leveraging its designation as. Predominately Black Institution (PBI) to pursue significant federal funding from the Department of Education and other federal agencies.
Together with MM subject-matter experts, Limestone developed and was awarded a $1.25 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education's Predominantly Black Institutions (PBI) Program to fund its new “Real Men Lead” initiative. This initiative will enhance Limestone’s capacity to serve more low- and middle-income Black American students, particularly males.
With the grant, Limestone will be able to expand those higher education opportunities by encouraging college preparation and student persistence. The PBI grant will also strengthen the financial ability of the institution to serve the academic needs of all of its students.
“Including our On-campus and Online program students, the Limestone undergraduate student body resembles South Carolina high school seniors, so our overall demographics met the federal definitions to qualify for the grant,” said Limestone’s President Dr. Darrell Parker. “We are extremely excited about what this grant will enable us to do to assist our students.”
