UB Technical College

Uintah Basin Technical College (UBTech) provides technical education and training to enable students to fulfill labor market needs and promote economic development in Utahs Uintah Basin and surrounding regions. Offering competency-based, industry-informed, and modern training opportunities in high-demand fields since 1968, UBTech was the first technical school in UT.

UB Technical CollegeWhen the Basins trucking and automotive industries came to UBTech with a significant need for more skilled and qualified employees, MM worked with UBTech leadership to develop the "Driving the Uintah Basin" (DUB) project and successfully secure $1,407,630 in federal funding from the Economic Development Administration (EDA).

More specifically, EDAs support enabled UBTech to purchase the trucks, training equipment, simulators, and software necessary to enhance and expand UBTech's Automotive Technician, Diesel Technician, and Commercial Driver's License (CDL) training programs.

During the next nine years, the DUB project will train more than 450 students to grow the pipeline of qualified, well-trained, job-ready workers for the trucking and automotive industries. In turn, the project also enables further regional economic development by aiding other key area industries (such as oil and gas) that require on-the-road logistics.
